#4 My Lai 2001 16 March 2001 My Lai, Quang Ngai, Viet Nam To The Editor, Today marks the 33rd year since those horrible events took place in Viet Nam at the hamlets we now know as My Lai. Unfortunately it is not a unique occurrence in the annals of mankind's behavior during wartime. Yet for the American public it struck a nerve showing we, too, were not impervious to succumbing to our baser instincts. We should not forget.
